OC AOT Peer Team Lead Recognized as a Peer Subject Matter Expert
/Lei Portugal Calloway, Peer Team Lead at Telecare’s Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) in Orange County, CA, has been invited to contribute as a paid subject matter expert towards the creation of the CalMHSA 2024 California Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification exam.
Outside of her leadership role at OC AOT, Lei became a California Certified PSS in September 2022. Shortly after her certification, Lei was tasked to support over 250 California Telecare peers with getting state certified. Lei also supports supervisors of certified peers with completing the required supervisor training.
As a reminder, the CalMHSA Grandparenting Application deadline has been extended to June 30th, 2023, and can be started by registering here. Upon application approval, peers have 12 months to take and pass the certification exam. Those who do not meet the criteria for grandparenting or those who miss this deadline will be required to apply under the initial application, which includes taking the required 80-hour peer training, then taking and passing the certification exam.
