We want to give a shout-out to the amazing team at Sacramento ARISE, who was featured in a member's story on Sacramento County's website.

Janae Taj was among Sacramento's homeless population and was connected to Sacramento ARISE in February. A main component of the Full Service Partnership (FSP) program is to house individuals that are homeless or at risk for homelessness.

Although she received housing, about six weeks later, Janae told the team at Sacramento ARISE that her living conditions were intolerable, with multiple people sleeping in the same room. Staff came together and worked with Janae to get her into better, safer housing. As a transgender woman, finding alternative housing options was difficult since not everyone was comfortable with how she identifies.

Fortunately, Janae qualified for a housing unit through Mercy Housing, a nonprofit group that partners with ARISE to provide affordable housing to lower-income seniors, families, and people who have experienced homelessness.

On June 4, Janae was handed the key to her very own apartment, which Telecare helped furnish.

We are so happy that Janae was able to find housing and are grateful for all of the hard work our Sacramento ARISE program does to help individuals like Janae find a place to call home. Way to go, team!
