For most Telecare members, mental illness is not the only challenge they must face.

Physical health complications and substance use—more frequently than not—also significantly impact their lives. Health gets eroded. Quality of life suffers. Lives are shortened. Hope gets lost.

We are committed to doing more to address these co-occurring challenges and improve our members' quality of life.

In May, Telecare launched a brand new Health & Wellness Curriculum to empower our staff with practical knowledge and understanding of common health issues our members are facing. This curriculum educates staff so that they are better able to help members identify issues and take control of their health in a more holistic way.

Please watch Telecare’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kent Eller, as he introduces the curriculum in the three minute video below, or download the PDF, for more information.

Dr Kent Eller talks about how the Health and Wellness Curriculum will provide linkage between behavioral and physical care services in hopes of reducing the healthcare disparity.

  • We blend physical and mental health care through our Coordinated Care Model, and work to ensure coordination between plans, community resources, and mental health providers.

  • We implemented Co-Occurring Education Groups (COEG), a curriculum that educates our members about
co-occurring conditions while also getting them thinking about their personal hopes and dreams. COEG was
implemented at all of our subacute, and community-based programs at the end of 2015 and beginning of 2016,
and will be implemented in all of our acute, crisis, and residential programs by the end of 2016.
